At Kurmak Mould, R&D is not a separate department but the core of mould production. Every project starts with a clear understanding of the product, takes shape through engineering-driven design and never goes into series production before it is verified on samples. Our goal is to let customers produce with less scrap, in less time and with longer-lasting moulds.
Product and Manufacturability Analysis
Before mould design begins, the product's intended use, production volume, material properties and production method are evaluated together. Wall thicknesses, draft angles, undercuts and tolerances are reviewed, and where needed we suggest product changes with our customer that improve manufacturability. This step determines the cost and time of everything that follows.
Engineering-Driven Mould Design
Our R&D design team creates functional, durable moulds that meet industrial standards. Runners and gates, cooling channels, the ejector system and moving mechanisms are planned to shorten cycle time, minimise scrap and simplify maintenance, ensuring precise dimensions and optimised production.
Sampling, Testing and Refinement
Every finished mould is tested with sample shots in our facility before delivery. Sample dimensions are inspected; flash, sink marks, warpage or short shots are eliminated through mould and process refinements. A mould goes into series production only after customer approval.
Process and Cost Optimisation
Our R&D work is not limited to new moulds. We develop improvements that shorten cycle times, reduce material use and extend maintenance intervals in existing moulds. Having CNC machining, eccentric press and plastic injection under one roof lets us test these improvements on the shop floor quickly.
Continuous Improvement
To keep quality and customer satisfaction at the highest level, we continuously develop our design and mould production units through technology investments and training, following industry innovations closely and carrying our know-how into every new project.
